Fort Murchison Lodge

Overlooking the eastern banks of the Albert Nile, Fort Murchison Lodge is set in the savannah landscapes on northern Uganda on the northern boundaries of the Uganda safari destination of Murchison Falls National Park. Built with a massive tower, Fort Murchison has got impressive colored walls with a Swahili touch that leaves to testify the influence of the Arab traders and great explorers that frequented the African hinterlands for trade and discovering the source of the Nile respectively.The Fort Murchison lodge offers mid-range accommodation with provision for budget travellers on Uganda safaris and tours. The land where the Fort Murchison is located initially belonged to the Aswa Lolim Game Reserve.



Accommodation at Fort Murchison lodge is provided in 12 self-contained rooms that are spacious equipped with comfortable beds. The wash rooms features plenty of water both hot and cold where the hot water is heat by solar powered heaters. The rooms at Fort Murchison feature a private balcony and a writing desk. There is also a terrace at the rooftop where a traveller on safari tour in Uganda can relax in the evening taking a sundowner and memorize about the day’s experiences while enjoying the views of the Albert Nile below. The restaurant serves a four course dinner and has got impressive décor inclined towards a Swahili touch as evidenced by a range of drawings and picture decorations.

Fort Murchison also offers accommodation in non-self-contained safari tents which are comfortably furnished with two (2) single beds featuring mosquito nets, power sockets and a bedside table. The tents are covered by grass thatch and there is a communal ablution block with modern and clean flush toilets and bathrooms. The towels and linen are provided. Fort Murchison is 5km drive from the Tangi gate and lies along the Karuma – Pakwach road.
